Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to 1. Identify and understand basic statistical terminology used in the textbook. 2. Be able to think critically about statistical studies (looking for bias and misrepresented data) 3. Understand the difference between the sampling methods (Simple random vs. convenience) 4. Identify and understand different graphical representations of data (scatter plots, histograms, etc) 5. Use frequency distributions to find mean and standard deviations 6. Use formulas and software to find the mean, median, standard deviation and variance of sample data. 7. Understand the basics of probability, including addition and multiplication probability as well as combination and permutation formulas 8. Understand a “Normal Distribution” and how to identify probability and z scores 9. Use sample statistics to estimate the population proportion, mean, standard deviation and sample size 10. Use a formal hypothesis test with Null and Alternative hypothesis to make a conclusion about a claim. 11. Use formulas and software to find linear regression and correlation.
