Course description: | This course will familiarize students with methods to evaluate and treat persons who are neurodiverse and those who are non-verbal or who have limited verbal communication. Low/high tech systems, social and legal issues, and feature matching across several modalities will be included (i.e., listening, speaking, reading, and writing.) Authentic assessment, ecological inventories, applied behavioral analysis, and client/family counseling are specifically addressed, as is chronic disability and end of life care; Pre-linguistic, paralinguistic, and social aspects of communication will are discussed.
