Course description:This course will familiarize students with methods to evaluate and treat persons with autism and those who are non-verbal or who have limited verbal communicators. Low/high tech systems, social and legal issues, and feature matching across several modalities will be included (i.e., listening, speaking, reading, and writing.) Authentic assessment, ecological inventories, and applied behavioral analysis will be explored; Pre-linguistic, paralinguistic, and social aspects of communication will also be discussed. (F, S)
