Course description:(Formerly ANTH/CJ 255) Forensic anthropology is a specialized field of study in forensic science, which focuses on the examination of the human skeleton in a legal context. In this course, we will BRIEFLY review the bones of the body so that you are able to understand the most basic terminology of the field. For the most part, we will examine how forensic anthropology functions within criminal investigation, including how we locate, recover, document and analyze the bones to decipher individualizing characteristics and signs of damage or trauma. Finally, we will cover how to apply these techniques to a criminal investigation. (F)
