Course description:This course is an introduction to neurological disorders of speech, language, cognition and swallowing. Etiologies, diagnoses, assessment, and treatment methods will be reviewed. The normal aging process in adults and the effects of aging on communication systems will be covered with an emphasis on aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia of speech, right hemisphere disorder, traumatic brain injury, dementia, and dysphagia. Prerequisite: CDIS 421. (Su)
