Course description:(Formerly CJ 245) This course introduces the corrections system in the United States, including the processing of an offender in the system and the responsibilities and duties of correctional professionals. The course covers the historical development, theory, and practice, as well as the institutional and community based alternatives available in the corrections process. Prerequisite: SOCI 1110 or CJUS 1110. (S)
