Course description:Emphasis on theoretical frameworks for reading including psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, anthropology, constructivism and progressive education as well as the historical foundations of reading instruction in the United States. Course is designed to provide an understanding of the reading process and evaluation of past and current approaches to teaching reading in the elementary and middle school setting. (F)
