Course description: | As announced. (May be repeated for credit if topics are different). Prerequisite: instructor approval. (TBA) In this unique hybrid class, students will study and practice a variety of techniques and theories for facilitating drama and theatre activities for youth. The course will focus on learners from grades preK-12 (roughly 3-18) and will allow for students to focus on a particular age range of interest. This advanced course will combine theory and practice, examining methods for providing drama and theatre instruction in a variety of settings. Students will develop, practice, and refine skills in designing and implementing curriculum in online in-class activities. The course will culminate in a practical application of skills, with students serving as camp counselors for the ENMU summer theatre camp July 5-10. Students will have the opportunity to lead camp drama and theatre activities for youth campers during the four-day camp, preceded by two days of intensive practical training. Class meets asynchronously online except for the week of camp. In person residency in Portales is required from July 5-10. |
