Course description:Focuses on photos as effective tools of communication for print and online platforms, with an emphasis on storytelling with photos, shooting on deadline, news, features, sports, photo essays, cutline writing and the ethics of photojournalism. Students will function as photojournalists, gaining hands-on experience shooting news, features, sports, and essays in newsroom conditions, as well as pitching visual story ideas. Students must own or have access to a digital camera with manual functions; cameras available for checkout through department. (Lab fee required) Prerequisites: COMM 1140, 2230. (S)
