Course description: | (Previously CHEM 113)This course will introduce non-science majors to the basic chemistry required to understand topics of current interest affecting their communities, such as air and water quality, global climate change, use of fossil fuels, nuclear power, and alternative energy sources, to illustrate chemical principles, acquaint students with scientific methods, and to critically evaluate scientific claims as presented in the media and in other communicative forums.
