Course description: | Wildfire Behavior Modeling is intended to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to perform fire behavior calculations manually, specifically through the use of graphical calculating devices such as nomograms. Students will gain an understanding of the primary determinants of fire behavior including various inputs such as weather, slope, aspect, fuel loading, fuel distribution and fuel moisture levels. Additional course coverage includes interpretation of fire outputs, documentation of fire inputs and outputs, and the important components of fire behavior briefings. Computer-generated fire behavior modeling through programs such as BEHAVE will be covered, if possible. This is an online course. |
