Course description:This required foundation course is designed to increase students' awareness, knowledge, and will provide a conceptual framework for understanding characteristics of specific population groups who have been under-served and oppressed. The course will examine the effects of social, economic, political factors on the psycho-social functioning of individuals in these groups. Students will explore personal values, biases, and stereotypes; theories of social justice and oppression. Additionally, the course will explore the relationship between cultural diversity and social change and its applications in multicultural social work settings. Open to all students. (F)
